Slab'em and Sell'em: Tim McGraw ToppsNow Speedway Classic

Country Music performer Tim McGraw is today’s Slab’em and Sell’em.

McGraw performed at last year’s Speedway Classic in Bristol which featured the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds.

The game was marred by bad weather, but the Braves found a way to win by riding Eli White who slammed two home runs and leading the way to a 4-2 victory.

But before Eli stole the show, McGraw was the highlight.

McGraw has been performing since the 90s. He is one of the few performers of that era that I did not see at Fan Fair, which used to be held in Nashville every year.

But during the 90s a friend and I decided to go to a concert featuring McGraw and Faith Hill in Oklahoma City. These were the days before phones and people actually used cameras.

So there we were in the upper level seats on the left side of the stage enjoying the show and taking photos.

Then boom here comes security to show us the way out. They informed us no cameras were allowed.

Well it’s not like we snuck them in.

Anyway the argument was on and one of the guys even knocked my camera to the floor. Thank goodness it was not hurt. We elected to leave.

I of course had to get in my two cents in and told the guys that it was ridiculous that we could drive to Nashville and take all the pics we want of any performer but not allowed to do so there.

My friend had ties to the McGraw group and made contact with them and told them what happened. I believe they sent her a blanket. I can’t remember if we got refunds but I don’t think we did.

We complained the entire way home and today, 30 years later we still complain about it. One of those glory days stories.

I have many fun memories from the 90s when it comes to meeting country music stars and getting autographs, but sadly Tim McGraw does not fit in the fun memory category, just the unbelievable memory category.

I still had to order this card from ToppsNow when it was released. I sent it to Degree for grading and it got a 9 Mint. the graders blame the surface for the below 10 score.

But hey here it is going up for sale.

Maybe if it sells, the money will make up for what I lost on that McGraw/Hill ticket years ago.

So take a look at the card listed on Mercari.
