Today on Slab’em and Sell’em I’m featuring an item that is not slabbed but I bet someone somewhere would slab it.
It is a 1999-2000 Miami, Oklahoma telephone book that features a photo of Mickey Mantle on the front. There is also a listing for Mantle’s cousin, Max, and also Mark Mantle inside.
Mantle grew up in Commerce which is near Miami.
The cover of the phone book is in good condition with some corner damage and the back of the book has a tear but it does not affect the cover.
I believe the item is a great piece of Oklahoma history as it contains names and information in and around the Miami area, a photo of Mantle, and it is a phone book.
As you know phone books are all but extinct in today’s world and they are pretty much a relic of the past.
This would be a great addition to any Mantle collection. No clue how many are out there, but the population in that area in 2000 was 13,700. So my guess is there are less than that available.
