The Lonesome Locust

Have you heard the Lonesome Locust?

He is the last locust of the season still singing.

Stop. Look up at the tree

Do you hear that tune?

The last sounds of the season.

Lucky to still be alive, least that’s what one might think.

He has lost his peers and still plays his tymbal.

Still searching for another but none is there.

Slowly the tune ends and the sounds of silence returns.

The lonesome locust has played possibly his last tune

and at least one lonesome human was there to hear it.

Fantasy Football says goodbye to Tom Brady

For the first time in two decades, fantasy football players will kick off the new season without Tom Brady as a quarterback option.

For me Brady is the most notable name that will be missing from roster options this year.

Over his career, I used Brady 204 times. He scored me 4,071 fantasy points and averaged 19.95 fantasy points per week.

He was my 12th ranked player and the most used player.

Aaron Rodgers is next with 134 selections.

Two of Brady’s former teammates also join the retirement list.

Sony Michel and Gio Bernard hung up their cleats and will be missing from fantasy rosters.

Michael was on two of my top scoring teams, the 181 and the 179 rosters. Brady was the QB of the 181 roster.

Other notables missing from fantasy rosters because of retirement are A.J. Green, Corey Davis, Josh Lamb, Alfred Morris, Kerryon Johnson,

Using kindness to seek out wine

Our time is limited. We must be kind to all as we could be eliminated from life at any moment.

Today the contract with life is extended another day.

We must make the most of it and be kind in order to break the binds of the mind and find the sign that leads us to wine!

Up in the Air

Listening to the winds of change blowing through the air.

Howl with them if you dare, but be careful you could end part of a pair.

There was a stare and the word care as the breeze blew through one’s hair.

Feelings can be rare and cause you to be bare which leads to wear and tear.

Pay the fare? Or say no fair?

Missing Deadline: A trip through newspaper office hell with a work place bully

 Chapter 1

After working retail for many years, a chance to return to the world of higher learning, had arrived. No more grocery work, no more baby pictures, no more balancing tills.  My ticket out had arrived at the ripe old age of 30. Or so I thought.
