Chicago White Sox Munetaka Murakami has been on a tear hitting home runs nearly every game.
From April 17-April 26 he hit six including one per game from April 17 through April 22.
But his homer hitting has paused with his last one slugged on April 24 against the Washington Nationals.
The next two days he went hitless against the Nationals.
What changed you may ask?
It is simple, I added him to my fantasy lineups and we both have paid the price.
With normal homer hitters like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani struggling this week, I decided to add Murakami to the mix.
Instead of homers and hits I got another failed attempt at a perfect PICK 8 on Draftkings and a failed attempt at a perfect PICK 5 homer lineup.
On Sunday I picked the usual homer hitters as it seems they have a high rate of homers on Sundays.
So I picked Judge, Ohtani, Cal Raleigh, Mike Trout and Murakami.
I felt fairly confident that I had a good shot at that top prize of $193.50 on a $1 bet. I passed on the struggling Kyle Schwarber and he ended up homering.
One by one Judge, Raleigh and Trout homered. But Murakami was struggling and Ohtani’s game had not started.
I watched as the White Sox and Nationals went to extra innings.
I hoped Murakami would get a chance.
With the score 2-0 in the 10th, the Sox scored one and had the tying run on base.
With two outs Miguel Vargas came to the plate and my man Murakami was on deck.
I have had a soft spot for Vargas ever since he got traded to the Sox from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Sox were the worst team and there was a video that surfaced of Vargas sitting outside the dugout with a look on his face like how did I get here?
Since then Vargas has come through for the Sox, but not today as he struck out to the end game and my hopes of a perfect PICK 5 and PICK 8.
My attention turned to Ohtani and yep, he came out of his slump like Judge and homered. So had I went with the struggling Schwarber in my line up instead of the hitless Murakami, I would have had the perfect PICK 5 home run lineup.
My PICK 8 lineup in the two bases or more category consisted of Ronald Acuna, Yourdan Alvarez, Judge, Ohtani, Raleigh, Schwarber, Trout and Murakami.
If Murakami could have come through that would have been a perfect PICK 8 and worth a minimum of $137.20.
I was a homer away from $330 plus today. But instead I’m celebrating $60.79.
Buy some ice cream.

My other winning picks today are:
