Plesac, Leyritz, Hickerson and Darwin Respond

Seven autographs from four former MLB players arrived this week.
Former Milwaukee Brewer Dan Plesac returned two of my cards signed in 17 days.
That success is followed by two signed cards from former New York Yankee and Texas Ranger Jim Leyritz. He took 22 days to return my cards.
Former San Francisco Giant pitcher Bryan Hickerson took a short eight days to return a signed card while former Houston Astro pitcher Danny Darwin took an even shorter six days to return two signed cards.
Best week I have had in a while.

More 2013 Failures

Some cards just never come back or take years to come back. The following cards are still gone I assume are not coming back.

Storm Davis
I mailed Davis two cards on Aug. 12, 2013 at a Daytona Beach address.
No luck.
Now it appears he has responded from an address in Jacksonville, Florida.

Stan Javier
I mailed Javier on Aug. 24, 2013 at the MPLPA address after reported successes. I scored nothing.
He appears to be a hit and miss signer from other addresses.

Tom Brookens
I mailed Brookens two cards on Sept. 23, 2013 at Comerica Park after a reported high success rate. Again my cards went to the PostMonster
Brookens now has a high success rate from an address in Pennsylvania. Will have to try again.

Rick Honeycutt
I mailed Honeycutt three cards on Sept. 23, 2013 at the Dodgers address where he shows an 80 percent success rate.
Again my cards went to the PostMonster. There are successes recorded since I sent my cards.
He also looks like a hit and miss signer from other addresses.

Mike Krukow
I mailed Krukow on Sept. 23, 2013 to an address in California after seeing success posted. The card didn’t come back. Now it appears he is signing from the Giant’s address. May be trying again.

A Todd Greene Autograph Arrives

Former Toronto Blue Jay catcher Todd Greene has broken my TTM drought by returning my card signed in a short 27 days.
It had been a while since I had any success. Hoping that is changing.
I did receive my two cards back that I mailed to former Miami Dolphin Zach Thomas.
The cards were unsigned with a note saying I sent to the wrong address.
We shall try again.
I also received a return to sender from former MLB player  Jaime Navarro.

My $600 winning FanDuel Baseball Lineup

Latest Banner

On Sunday, July 31, 2016, I celebrated my biggest most exciting fantasy baseball win ever.
My $2 lineup on FanDuel paid me $600.
The lineup consisted of Minnesota Twins pitcher, Ervin Santana; Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin; Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera; Twins second baseman Brian Dozier, Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki; Miami Marlins outfielder, Giancarlo Stanton, Baltimore Orioles outfielder, Adam Jones and Twins outfielder Danny Santana.
The win was made possible because the Blue Jays and Orioles went into extra innings and Jones came through with a 3- run homer to send me to the top.
If you haven't tried FanDuel yet, I suggest it.
I find it entertaining, sometimes profitable and addicting.

Steve Trout Success After 897 Days

My latest TTM success is from former MLB pitcher Steve Trout and it took 897 days. Yes, 897 days.
I mailed Trout a 1988 Donruss card on Dec. 16, 2013 and it came back to me June 1, 2016 signed.
Trout also enclosed a flyer promoting a book he has co-authored with Marlene Matthias called Loosey-Goosey Baseball.
According to the flyer the pair will appear at banquets, day care centers, schools and boys and girls clubs.
For more information visit www.troutbaseballacademy.com
You may be shocked that 897 days is not my longest wait to receive a TTM.
Ray Fontenot took 918 days and Glenn Allen Hill took 1,285 days.
Can’t say it enough, never give up.
I also received my card back from former catcher MLB  catcher Mark Parent.
I mailed Parent on May 16, 2016 at the Lakewood Blueclaws address in New Jersey.
The card came back unsigned with my note and the envelope appears to have suffered some trauma.
I think I’m filing it back in the stack as if it never happened and will try again another day.

Eddie Carnett, Oldest Living former MLB Player responds to TTM Request

(UPDATE)
Carnett died on Nov. 4, 2016, two weeks after turning 100.)

RINGLING, OK. — The oldest living former Major League Baseball player Eddie Carnett and family is responding to fan mail
The 99-year-old Carnett, who will turn 100 on Oct. 21, is a former resident of my home town and wasted no time in responding to my request.
According to Ponca City News archives, Carnett was born on Oct. 21, 1916 in Springfield, Mo.
The family, his parents Jesse and Velma Carnett, a brother, Charles and a sister, Maxine, moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where Eddie would become prominent in sports at Ponca City High School.
According to The News time line, Carnett pitched in Tulsa in 1937, in Los Angeles in 1938, with the Chicago Cubs in the National League and the Milwaukee Brewers in the American Association in 1939, with the Kansas City Blues in the American Association in 1940, with the Newark Bears of the International League in 1941, with the Seattle Raniers of the Pacific Coast League in 1942 and 1943, and then back to the Big Leagues with the White Sox in 1944 and the Cleveland Indians in 1945.  And according to the time line, he went into the U. S. Navy in 1946.  The time line missed two games that he played with the Boston Braves in 1941.
I sent a note and autograph request to Carnett on May 16.
On May 27 I received a letter from Carnett’s family, a reproduction of the 1941 War Years photo  featuring 1941 Boston Bee rookie pitchers, George Barnicle, Bob Williams, Frank LaManna, Art Johnson, Carnett, and manager Casey Stengel; Carnett’s autograph, and the three items sent were returned autographed.
In the letter, the family explains that the team was known as The Boston Bees until May 12, 1941, when they became The Boston Braves.
The letter states, Carnett doesn’t write many letters, but does still sign a few balls and cards.
A great success and addition to my collection.
