Today’s Slab’em and Sell’em is a 2017 Topps Carlos Gonzalez celebrating the 25th Anniversary if the 1987 Topps design.
The card is graded a 9 Mint by SGC and the only one in the SGC population report.
Why is it the only one in the POP report you ask?
Here is my theory.
I’m a collector and I want to believe that there are other collectors out there buying cards for the long haul and not necessarily to flip.
I also believe that every player has fans even if it is just friends and family.
So I believe that there is a Carlos Gonzalez fan out there that would love to add this to their collection. Or maybe there is a Colorado Rockies fan out there who only collects Rockies.
Or maybe there is a collector of the Topps 1987 set.
Bottom line is, there are collectors of everything, or so I believe. Or maybe there are still people out there who can’t spend thousands on one card and just want an affordable slab of their favorite player.
Whatever the case, by grading the cards that no one else or few others grade, gives collectors rare choices.
So Rockies fan, or Carlos fans, this card is for you.
