I have sent my second submission off to Beckett.
This time I think my packaging was better than the first time.
The first time, I put the cards in a small box and then put the box in a package.
This time I skipped the box and used the packaging I received from Topps Now. Much easier and I believe just as safe.
For years I have avoided card grading because of the stories I have heard about the cost and shipping issues. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t find it that stressful with Beckett.
This first time I shipped nine cards. The cost of grading and shipping comes out to $20.17 per card.
The second time I sent seven cards at a cost of $20.16 card.
Not too bad, could be cheaper maybe if I sent more at a time.
This time I sent one football, five baseball and one baseball movie star card.
They are:
• A 2017 Topps Heritage Houston Astro team card. Yep, won’t make me rich but should make a nice pick up for the true Astro fan as it was pulled and packed.
• A 2000 Topps Hank Aaron 1957 reprint. Hoping for a high grade and it should make a nice collectible for the Braves fan.
• A 2024 Topps Now Ohtani. There were over 7,000 of these cards made. Maybe one graded will make a nice pick up for the Ohtani collector.
• 1997 Fleer Pedro Martinez. A great card for the Expo collector. Again hoping for a decent grade.
• 2000 Topps Barry Bonds 1993 MVP reprint. Again hoping for the high grade and not necessarily the high bucks. But again may make a nice pick up for the Bonds collector.
• 1990 Fleer Troy Aikman. I figured why not. Again for me it’s not about getting rich over night. It’s about enjoying the hobby and if I make a buck or two that is great.
• Last on the lists the 2017 Topps William Shatner Boston Red Sox card. Shatner is throwing out the first pitch. Hoping for that high grade and maybe someday the Star Trek fan who needs a nice collectable.
So now we have 16 cards at Beckett that hopefully come back by the end of the year.
