Philadelphia Phillie’s slugger Kyle Schwarber has slugged 53 home runs this year as of Sept. 21, but the one day he didn’t slug one ruined my attempt at a Perfect Pick 8 on Draftkings.
Fantasy sports fans are in a transition time when football begins to replace MLB as the sport of the week.
For me it has been easier to win on fantasy football rather than baseball.
So at this point in the season I start to bet more on football.
But on Sept. 20 I took a chance and picked what was almost a perfect 8 on Draftkings that would have paid off over $400.
First off I chose Milwaukee Brewer William Contreras to get a hit in his game and he did before leaving the game.
Then Yankee star Aaron Judge has been doing me in by not slugging homers when I choose him so instead of a homer I hoped for a game with two or more bases, and he came through.
I saw that the Angles were in Colorado so I chose Mike Trout and Taylor Ward to homer against the Rockies and Nolan Schanuel to come way with two or more hits, runs or RBIs.
The Angels were true Angels and came through.
To complete the Pick 8 I chose Ohtani, Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwaber to continue their slugging ways.
All did their job but Schwarber.
So my latest quest to choose a perfect eight failed by one pick.
As a Braves fan I expect grief from the Phillies and I should have known if it came down to one bad pick, it would be a Philly.
So congrats to Schwarber for playing the role of Phillie Karen and stealing my chance at a perfect 8 pick and a $400 plus pay off.
